High blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and weight: GP care in Dubai
High blood pressure, prediabetes, high cholesterol and weight gain are closely linked, and usually silent. Your FanCare GP looks at them together, explains what is driving your risk and manages it with you in one plan, including medication where appropriate.
Who it is for
Adults who want to know where they stand, or who have already been told a reading is "borderline".
- A blood pressure reading that was high or "a bit high"
- Prediabetes, or a family history of type 2 diabetes
- High cholesterol, or heart disease or stroke in the family
- Weight that has crept up, or a larger waist
- No check-up for a few years and you feel fine
- Already diagnosed with high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or high cholesterol and want joined-up care
What we look at
- Blood pressure
- Blood sugar, such as HbA1c
- Cholesterol and other blood fats
- Weight and waist measurement
- Kidney and liver function
- ECG where needed
- Sleep, activity and food
- Stress and smoking
What you leave with
Every result explained in plain language, your overall heart and diabetes risk worked out, and a written plan with practical steps and a follow-up date. For the full picture, we recommend our cardiometabolic risk assessment.
Your numbers do not exist in isolation
Sleep and stress
Poor sleep and long-term stress can raise blood pressure and blood sugar, so we ask about both.
Hormones
PMOS (formerly PCOS) and the menopause transition affect blood sugar and cholesterol, and are part of the same picture.
Specialist care, coordinated
If you need a cardiologist or endocrinologist, we arrange it and bring their advice back into your plan.
Heart and metabolic health questions
Can I have high blood pressure without symptoms?
Yes. High blood pressure usually causes no symptoms, which is why it is worth having it checked even when you feel well.
What is prediabetes?
Prediabetes means your blood sugar is higher than normal but not yet in the diabetes range. It is a common stage where changes to daily habits can make a real difference, so it is worth finding early.
Do you manage type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol?
Yes. Your GP assesses and manages type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol within GP scope, including medication where clinically indicated, and refers to a specialist when needed.
Do you help with weight?
Yes. Overweight and obesity are assessed and managed alongside blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol, with lifestyle-integrated care and medication where appropriate.
